Charter School in Formation
Now in development, COVA will be a free, public, music-oriented charter school. Its mission is to offer a free, public, music-oriented and high quality academic program to students aged kindergarten through eighth grade. COVA will integrate music into a core curriculum, providing students with a solid foundation for success in high school and college. The school plans to open in the Fall of 2007 under the direction of Dr. Valerie Abad, who intends to take full advantage of modern Internet communications from the start. Their early-stage Website, designed and developed by Infolane, provides timely news and announcements to the public during the rigorous application, permitting and chartering process necessary to launch a charter school. Parents and other interested persons are able to register on the Website to be kept informed of developments by email. As a result, the new school is getting the word out more effectively and at lower cost than would otherwise be possible. The Website will grow and transform as the school comes into being. When classes begin, students, teachers, parents and administrators will be able to communicate with each other through online communications. Website Attracts Motion Picture Production
Motion picture production is a major industry in California. When a production company comes to town to do some filming, it's a big benefit to the local economy. That's why cities and counties establish film commissions: to attract film producers to the community. The City of Alameda recently formed a film commission. One of the initial task set forth by the commission was to develop a Website with a duofold mission: (1) to offer information to the film industry about interesting locations on which to film, and (2) to invite homeowners and business owners in the community to participate in the action by listing their properties in the film locations directory that is on the Website. The new site launched in January, 2007. The locations database section, now being populated with data, will become available shortly.
