M. LeBARON MEYERS, Author

was born in California in 1976. M for Michelle is the daughter of Bill and Cathie (LeBaron) Meyers and has an older brother, Charlie. As her Father is a coach, she has lived in many cities throughout the United States. At the time she wrote the verse for THE HAPPENING OF GIRROO she was a student at UCLA in Los Angeles, where her friends called her LeBaron. She now works in New York for the investment firm of Loomis Sayles.

Michelle enjoys sports, writing, coaching basketball, and was a teen counselor at the UCLA Summer Camp in Arrowhead during her college years. Although she has written many essays, papers, articles, etc., this is her first book.

This is an unusual children's book,
written in clever rhyme with charming illustrations.
It tells the story of GIRROO,
a wonderfully unique animal
who is half giraffe and half kangaroo.
Girroo's story touchingly teaches us
that differences are special
and shows the importance of being
compassionate and understanding of others.
